There’s a new standard for nanoindentation software: TestWorks® 4 from MTS Nano Instruments. With TestWorks 4 software, you’ll be able to run tests and manage your data with unprecedented ease and simplicity. Through the simple and intuitive interface, you can set up and run indentation experiements quickly—and change your test patterns as often as you like—with the ease of a few clicks.

Features
Benefits

12.5 kHz with on-board averaging

Capture critical events without storing excessive data.

Instrument control at 500 Hz

Precise experimental control based on acquired and calculated data.

User-controlled (and variable) data recording rates

Get exactly the data you want by changing recording rates based on experimental conditions. Record based on points per second, points per change in value, or peak value. Not just time. This means if a major event such a fracture occurs, you can get more data at the critical point of the experiment

User-defined calculations and PID feedback control

Control experimental progress based on novel calculations and PID feedback control (at 500 Hz!). Have you ever considered a constant hardness test? Now you can!

Open architecture for external hardware

Record and use data from your own instrumentation simulateously with ours.

Experimental test method automatically stored with data

All aspects of instrument configuration, experimental chronology, and data analysis are stored for future reference with the data set. The most esoteric experiment may be exactly duplicated years later.

Supports any calculational model

Oliver & Pharr is the predominant calculational model used in nanoindentation. However, TestWorks supports small force / small displacement measurements that are not necessarily indentation. From MEMS testing to tensile experiments, surface topology, polymers and beyond—TestWorks allows you to enter the calculations you deem important based on your samples.

One-button execution of routine tests

Routine tests for quality control can be run by a technician with minimal experience.

Batch-wizard

Use a simple step-by-step guide to configuring all test settings. Set up hours of tests to run and walk away!

Ability to configure users (with passwords) so they have their own data directories and user interface settings

For various users, customize preferences such as access level, preferred test method, data-storage location, and interface apperance.

Automated units conversions

Specify inputs and results in any units you want. Even mix British and metric units; TestWorks takes care of the conversion.

Easy-to-read statistical analysis of all results

At a glance, see the mean, standard deviation, covariance and more for any result (even user-defined results!)

Powerful post-test data manipulation

Change input values, change units, redefine calculations, add new calculations, and TestWorks quickly handles it all.

Real-time reporting and plotting

Plot or simply watch the value of any streaming calculation (channel), including user-defined calculations.

Continuous updates on experimental status

Know what the instrument is doing at all times through user-customized meters, messages, and graphs.

Run a data analysis copy of TestWorks in your office

TestWorks software will run in your office to allow you to review data at your desk while the instrument continues to process the next sample.

Every instrument comes with Microsoft© Office

Manipulate and present your data with the tools you are already comfortable using. TestWorks helps you get from testing to presentation in record time.

Automated export to Microsoft© Excel

Output instrument settings, user inputs, and results directly to a single, well-organized Excel workbook. (No intermediate steps of exporting to text files and then importing into Excel!)

Automated reporting in Microsoft© Word

A report is automatically generated in Microsoft Word that summarizes instrument configuration, user inputs, and important results. Easily configure the report format to suit your preferences.

Analyst™

Easily combine and graphically compare results from multiple samples. Analyst can do in seconds what used to take hours by hand.

Virtual Indenter

Simulate indentation experiments using this powerful, easy-to-use finite element package.
